Welcome to house we're calling "PS Leisure". The epitome of mid-century style and California outdoor living, you will certainly find leisure the order of the day and find everything you'll need to enjoy a relaxing holiday in this desert gemstone. Built in 1960, this home features iconic elements of the era: clerestory windows, decorative breeze block, tongue and grove beamed ceilings and post and beam construction as originally designed by William Krisel and popularized by the Alexander Construction Company.
Upon entry, the organic tones of the house with comfort you with it's elegant choice in wood and natural stones. The cozy but updated kitchen and dining area has been updated as to open directly to the comfortable living room with plenty of seating for 6-8 guests. There is access from the kitchen and the dining area to a particularly special back yard. Directly off the living room is a poolside entertaining patio with seating for 6 and a Restoration Hardware pre-fab fire pit. Curl up with a book, enjoy the sparks of the fire pit and the glow of the pool on a perfect desert evening.
In classic Alexander Construction style, your bedrooms line the North side of the home; laundry (washer and dryer) is in the hallway. First in the hallway is a guest room with a King bed and TV, then another guest room with a queen bed and TV. Those guest rooms share a guest bathroom in the hallway complete with updates, tile and a shower/tub combo. The master suite resides at the end of the hallway. You'll enjoy a large room, King bed, TV, love seat for private relaxation. The en-suite master bath boasts the same time and upgrades with a step-in shower. Slider access off the master takes you to a semi-private enclave with a substantial fire pit.
The South facing backyard features mountain views and plenty of areas to lounge and soak up some sun. The yard's orientation provides for the most sun throughout the day and maximizes almost 180-degree views of the San Jancinto mountain range. You will miss a view from almost everywhere in the back yard. You'll find a sparkling pool with a newly added hot tub, chaises for desert sun-soaking, a 4-hole putting green, boccie court, 4-burner (built-in) gas grill with a great natural stone bar counter for poolside entertaining. The outdoor dining area is covered for daytime shade, well-lit for evening poolside meals. August of 2019 we added misters around the house and throughout the back yard for summer heat relief! Please note: pool heat is available but optional so please ask us if you'll need it for the time of year you are visiting: $59/day or $375/week.
Racquet Club Estates is a premier neighborhood of Palm Springs. The neighborhood is rich with architecture and history. It should be noted the city has sound ordinances that are strictly enforced: there is no music outside, at all, at any time of day. People noise at a reasonable level is certainly allowed during the day. You should enjoy the pool and your friends/family. However, audible people noise must cease by 10 PM. The owner(s) like to stress this home is ideal for a dream vacation and relaxation but is by no means a “party-central” home. Each guest is expected to be as good a neighbor as the owner(s) themselves. Special events like weddings are NOT allowed.
Guest count is limited by the city to 6 overnight guests. Parking is limited to 3 cars, maximum.

From start to finish, we were pleased in every way. The home was clean, a great layout and perfect for our group. The back yard was like a mini resort, clean pool and spa, putting green, bocce ball and lots of seating, in and out of the sun. And dont forget the misters!! The beds were comfortable, equal to a very nice hotel. The management company was super responsive and professional. This is a great property

Everything you need to relax in the sun is steps out the backdoor. Did not expect the over the top mountain views plus palm springs has a lot of things to do. Just a relaxing but interesting place to vacation. Relax palm springs team were fantastic to work with.

Convenient location for exploring Joshua Tree National Park and enjoying Palm Springs (at night). The mid-century modern decor was unexpectedly fun and refreshing (think Mad Men!). The listing photos used wide angle lens distortion which was a bit disappointing.

We booked this wonderful property months ago, but when we showed up in June, it was during one of the hottest weeks on record! Thank goodness for the perfect pool, the outdoor misters, and the A/C! We had a great stay for a week, lounging both outdoors and in. We slept really well in the very comfortable beds and the linens were so soft, I found myself looking at the tags so we could get them for our home! The indoor towels were especially thick and the pool towels were perfect to keep outside--and they dried nearly instantly! Having a washing machine was helpful since we were there a week, and we used it, though didn't use the dryer, just hung things over chairs outside to dry. The ice maker on the fridge was a lifesaver. We used the outdoor grill a few times (yes, even in 117 degrees!) and it worked beautifully to grill up some burgers and carne asada. When we booked, we were excited there's a park just around the block (we were with our 4 and 8-year-old children), but it was way too hot to play at the park--other families at a different time of year may really enjoy that brief walk, but we could barely leave the house without going straight into the pool! There were a few things we needed our first day, and the Relax Palm Springs staff was super accommodating and our texts were always answered in a timely manner. We loved the keyless entry, which made check in and out really easy. Thank you, we had such a great time! We would absolutely stay here again!

Overall, we did enjoy our stay. However, there were several discrepancies between the listing and what we found upon check-in. Pros: Location was close to airport, grocery and town. Property management company was responsive and easy to work with. Space was adequate for 4 people. Misters on the patio were a lifesaver in the heat and allowed us to enjoy the outdoor space. The house was cute where it had been updated. Lots of potential. Cons: House was partially updated, but areas that weren't updated showed significant wear and tear. While the house sleeps 6, it would be really tight if there were 3 couples sharing the house as both bathrooms are tiny. The backyard has zero shade and property owner doesn't provide any umbrellas. The outdoor setting in the photos does not reflect the worn and broken furniture we found when we arrived. Two of the lounger chairs were completely broken, as was the only sun shade. The photos also showed a sunbed, but we didn't see any sign of such furniture. Once we realized there was broken patio furniture, I contacted the property management company to report it. They knew of the existing damage and had notified the owner already. While the property owner has no control over the weather, travelers should know that this area frequently has higher winds than other areas of Palm Springs.

PS Relax was definitely the place to enjoy some sun, peace and quiet. The place had great amenities that will not even make you step out of the house. Its 5 min drive to Albertsons and was in a beautiful neighborhood. We barely left the house and had the laziest, relaxing weekend, Mission Accomplished and a weekend getaway success!

Fabulous Palm Springs Winter Getaway
This Palm Springs mid-century charmer was everything we asked for- chic, cool design, comfortable modern furniture and fabulous outdoor space. The management company looked after us beautifully and made sure we had everything we could possibly need. We enjoyed the heated pool and hot hot-tub as the January weather was quite cool. We were thrilled with the media options and very grateful to watch 2 Toronto Raptors game awhile on vacation in California!

Lovely home in a great area. Easily accommodated six people looking for a winter weather escape. The outdoor area was definitely the highlight. Will likely return!
